This is an after-school program hosted by Outdoor Rec where kids ages 7-14 can receive assistance completing homework and be rewarded with fishing and kayaking off the dock at the Rowing & Sailing Center! In addition to learning and enhancing their fishing and kayaking skills, participants will also learn about the various wildlife inhabiting our island and basic salt marsh ecology.
A snack will be provided and transportation from Rec Center via minibus will be provided as well.
Nate Skager, Director of Outdoor Rec, has taught Surf Lessons and Adventure Camps to youth since 2004. He has also served as a kayak guide and interpretive naturalist on Hilton Head. Nate is a Nationally Registered EMT and Red Cross Lifeguard.

New students must pay for a uniform. Through this program, you will learn self-confidence, a mixture of cardiovascular endurance, strength training, and flexibility exercises. This will improve reflexes and coordination while increasing strength and stamina. Overall fitness will be achieved.

Whether this is your first time stepping on a skateboard or you are already dropping in on a half pipe, the After-School Skateboarding Club offers professional instruction for all skill levels! Parents have the option of dropping their child directly to Bristol Sports Arena by 4pm or we can transport your child from the Rec Center at 3:45pm in our mini-bus. If your child is taking the mini-bus, the Lower School students will be escorted to the Rec Center by one of our Rec Staff members where they can finish any homework. Middle School participants will need to walk over to the Rec Center by 3:30pm. A Rec Staff member will then transport your child to the skate park in our mini-bus by 4pm. Skateboard, helmet and pads are all provided at the park at each session. Pickup is located at the Bristol Sports Arena Skate Park by 6pm.
Led by Maxcy Hicks & The Cadman Boys
Maxcy has been skating his entire life and has competed in and won several skate competitions throughout his career. He was sponsored by Fuel Skate Team and has led multiple Skate Demos and has showcased his skills at various Skate Park Openings and Trade Shows as a Fuel Skate Team member. Maxcy also played an integral role in designing and developing Hilton Head's first skate park.
Big Jess & Little Jess are a father-son duo that will be assisting with the after-school Skateboarding Club. Jesse Jr. is one of our local youth standouts at the skate park. He has developed his skateboarding ability quickly under the tutelage of his father and other seasoned local skaters like Maxcy!

This program is for youth novices, beginners, and intermediate players. Beginners progress rapidly by starting with small racquets and low-compression balls. More experienced players are challenged with drills and games based on level. All players receive a combination of technical instruction and fun gameplay to exercise skills. Racquets will be provided to those who do not have them.
Lead coach is local pro Royce Silvan, USPTR certified tennis professional. Our partner for this program, Public Tennis Inc., offers clinics and competitive play opportunities for adults, children and Special Olympics athletes

Jesse Eddy Boys Bball League

Organized gameplay. 3 v 3, 4 v 4 and 5 v 5. Participants will be placed on a team and play competitive games for an hour.
Jesse Eddy, Hilton Head native, and local basketball standout played at Armstrong Atlantic State University before going on to the European summer league. As a starting point guard, he led his team to a championship before returning to his home here on Hilton Head to work with developing players. Jesse uses his background in biology, physical therapy, and personal training and his deep passion for and knowledge of the game of basketball to train the next generation of athletes into the best players they can be.

This a great new opportunity to learn all the aspects of the sport of Volleyball for those who are not able to play at the school level yet. The program will be led by Island Rec Superintendent, Chuck Mullen, a former 19-year collegiate volleyball coach along with assistance from various local coaches with a wealth of volleyball knowledge. Players will receive instruction for the first few weeks and then be placed on teams with the opportunity to play in game situations for the final few weeks.
Led by Chuck Mullen, Island Rec Athletic Superintendent. Involved in volleyball for 30 years, 19 spent coaching at the college level.
